How do I edit my theme and preview my changes without affecting my live shop? (Shopify Classic Admin)
Here is how:

Duplicate your main theme.
Go to Themes → Theme Manager. On the Theme Manager page, click on the 'Duplicate theme' link for your Main published theme. That's in the top section under the heading 'Published Themes'.

Edit your duplicated theme. Preview your changes.

When you are done, publish your duplicate theme as the main theme.
Afterwards, you can keep the old copy of your theme or delete it.

Here is how:

Duplicate your main theme.
Log in to your shop admin and go to the Themes tab. You will be redirected to your store. In the Theme sidebar, click on the More button. In the list, select the Duplicate theme option. Your duplicated theme, should appear in the Theme sidebar.

Edit your duplicated theme. Preview your changes.
You can edit your theme using the Theme Settings button and/or the Theme Editor button. For more information on Theme settings, checkout this article on the wiki. -
When you are done, publish your duplicate theme as the main theme.
To publish your duplicate theme, click on the theme. A Publish theme button should appear.
Afterwards, you can keep the old copy of your theme or delete it.
