Why are my invoice numbers not consecutive? Abandoned Orders (Shopify Classic Admin)
When a customer proceeds to the checkout area of your shop and fills in the information, this creates an Abandoned order. Abandoned orders are assigned invoice numbers, despite not being completed.
It is very common to have customers abandon their carts at this stage of the checkout, quite often they are checking shipping rates or just "window shopping".
You can find your abandoned orders by visiting the order overview screen, and then clicking on any payment status and selecting abandoned:

You can find your abandoned orders by logging into your shop admin and visiting the Orders screen. Select Filter orders and then click on Select filter. A drop down list will appear. Select Payment Status is abandoned. Click Add filter.
