Discount codes are available on the Professional plan and up, and can be found in your Promotion tab in the store admin area.
Codes can be generated to apply a dollar value discount or a % discount. You can also specify the dates for which the code is valid, the number of times a code can be used, a minimum order amount before the code can be used, and to which products or collections the discount can be applied.
FAQ
- We do not offer gift certificates at this time, but many of our clients create one-time use discount codes in place of a gift card. Keep in mind that any remaining balance will not be carried over when using a discount code, so the full value should be used during the purchase.
- There are currently no limits on the amount of discount codes that can be created, this may change if we find too many codes are causing problems.
- It's currently not possible to create discount codes with our API.
- Expiry time is the start of the day entered (if chosen). For example, an expiry date of 07/09/2010 will expire at 00:00AM 07/09/2010 and will not be valid through the day entered.
- Discounts for Shopify work with Google Checkout US at this time, but Google Checkout UK is not supported.
- Collection discounts will discount each individual product added to the order which belong to that collection.
- Product specific discount codes will apply to all quantities of a product when the customer has gone to the checkout and applied the discount code. For example: If a customer adds 10 of the same product, the product specific code will discount all 10
Can I offer my customers discounts or gift certificates? (Shopify 2 Admin)
Discount codes are available on the Professional plan and up. To upgrade the plan that you are on, login to your Shopify admin and go to Settings > Account. Scroll down the field entitled "Account overview & details." Click on the Change plan type button.
Codes can be generated to apply a dollar value discount or a % discount. You can also specify the dates for which the code is valid, the number of times a code can be used, a minimum order amount before the code can be used, and to which products or collections the discount can be applied.
To generate a discount code for your store, log in to your store admin, and click on the Discounts tab. From here, click on the "Add discount" button located in the top righthand corner of the page.
This will open up a new page where you can enter all the details for the discount you wish to create (such as when you want the deal to start and end).
Once you've entered all the necessary info for this discount, hit the "save" button. That's all there is to it!
Your new discount will now appear in list format in the Discounts tab in your admin. To disable or delete the deal, click the corresponding buttons to the right of the the discount on your list.
